How to Start Reselling Clothing Stocklots

The direct answer: start the selling side before the buying side. Choose the channel, work out what will sell there and at what price, and only then buy stocklots that fit. Buyers who order first end up holding inventory they cannot move, because they bought a category rather than a product.

Part of the buyer journey: Start Small: First Business, First Lot, First Season — stage 5 of 8, with the other guides for this stage.

Choose the channel before the product

Marketplaces, local retail and social selling have completely different economics. They differ in who buys, at what price, how quickly they pay and what happens when they return the item. The channel constrains everything else.

Pick one, learn how it works with something you can source immediately, and only then commit capital to stock. Testing a channel with a very small stocklot is cheap and instructive.

Build the listing before the shipment

Write the product description, take photographs and set the price while the stock is still in Pakistan. This forces you to know your product properly and gives you a chance to discover that the lot does not suit your channel before you pay for it.

It also means the goods can be listed on arrival rather than sitting unsold while you work out what to call them.

Run it as a repeat, not as a one-off

The first order is an experiment. Write down what you learned: which sizes sold, what the true margin was, how long clearance took, whether the supplier was accurate. Then plan the second order before the first one sells out.

That is the difference between a one-time trade and a business. The information from order one is worth more than the profit, and it is wasted if you do not capture it.

What stocklots are available right now?

Reading is step one. Send your requirement and we will check the factory network for current options.

Buyer questions, answered

Should I sell locally or online?

Whichever you can actually reach customers through. Local sales give you faster feedback and no platform fees but a hard ceiling on volume. Online gives you reach and takes a percentage of every sale. The right answer depends on the contacts you already have.

Do I need a brand name to sell stocklots?

No. Reselling existing brands and products does not require your own brand, and creating one before you have customers adds cost and delay. Some markets have rules about how unbranded goods must be labelled, which is worth checking locally.

How do I handle returns?

Decide the policy and cost it into your price before you have any customers. Fit-related returns are a normal cost of fitted garments and are one reason unbranded basics are a better starting category than anything formal.
